Our Story

Built around the rider

Founded in 2019, Cobalt Bikes builds custom carbon and titanium bikes around each rider’s fit, terrain and goals. We are a veteran-owned, independent bicycle company specializing in road, gravel and mountain bikes. We build for riders who know what they want from a bike—and for riders who want experienced guidance getting there.

Founder Mike has spent more than four decades riding road, mountain, gravel and cyclocross bikes around the world. Cobalt grew from that experience: choosing the right platform, geometry and components for the ride ahead instead of accepting a predetermined mass-market build.

Why the aircraft names?

Cobalt honors its military heritage by naming its bikes after World War II aircraft. Warhawk, Spitfire, Marauder and the rest of the lineup connect that heritage with bikes designed for speed, capability and adventure.

Personal by design

A Cobalt can start with one of our ready-to-order Core, Performance or Elite builds, or become something more personal. For riders who want guidance or customization, we can work through frame and size, drivetrain, wheels, cockpit, gearing, tires and paint to create a bike around the rider and the ride ahead.

Build Ride Inspire

Build. Cobalt is about building bikes for people who are passionate about riding—and building a community of cyclists who share that passion, their rides, their knowledge and their adventures.

Ride. Get out on your bike, on your terms, for your adventure. Whatever the bike, whatever the route—the freedom of being in the saddle, the wind in your face, exploring somewhere new or simply making the daily commute. Just ride.

Inspire. Inspire yourself and others to seek new adventures and new challenges. Push beyond what you thought possible, share what riding has given you, and inspire others to join the community and discover their own passion for cycling and adventure.
